Hey there!
I’m Fiona

I have always loved art and all things crafty but never got to formally study art. I rediscovered my love for art after becoming a mum and starting making art with my kids.

I first discovered Pastel Nagomi Art when taking a class with my daughter in 2018 and loved the simple pleasures and inner peace it brings.

My art journey

Love for acrylic florals and seascapes

In 2018, tired from the routine of work, I needed a creative outlet and started learning acrylic painting through watching YouTube videos and from various online artists.

I was especially drawn to abstract florals and seascapes. I loved how freeing it was and how I wan’t pressured to paint realistically. I could express them in whatever ways I want.

Making art with my kids

When the COVID pandemic struck in 2020, being stuck at home with the kids meant I had to find more activities to occupy their time. We started making more art, including Pastel Nagomi Art.

Making art together with my kids gave me so many opportunities to bond with them, and to grow our creativity together.

Teaching art to kids

While working from home during the pandemic, an unexpected opportunity came up for me to conduct some casual acrylic painting classes to a couple of children living in my neighbourhood.

I introduced Nagomi Art to them (their mum joined in as well). It was a joy to see them enjoying making art together as a family and I loved seeing how everyone’s piece turned out differently.

Becoming a certified Pastel Nagomi Art Instructor

I wanted to learn more about Pastel Nagomi Art and eventually took the Associative Instructive Art Course awarded by the Japan Pastel Hope Art Association (JPHAA).

As part of the certification, we had to do 3 original pieces and the one I was most proud of was “Birth”. Using the actual ultrasound scan of my son as a stencil, I created this piece to celebrate birth and motherhood.

Sharing the joy of art through YouTube

As a full time working mum with 2 young children, it was hard for me to take regular physical art classes, so YouTube and online lessons really provided me the chance to learn and pursue my creative interests.

In a way, I wanted to pay it forward, and started my YouTube channel hoping to share more of this wonderful art form, and to inspire more people that they are capable of creating art as well.
